Keeping Up with CEO

Rudy GerstenCulture & Society, Keeping Up with CEO

Dear CEO Supporters,

Labor Day marks the unofficial end of summer but at the Center for Equal Opportunity, our work never ends. Just this week, we launched a campaign to caution American colleges and universities against developing improper Title IX campus sexual misconduct procedures. We contacted schools in every federal judicial circuit including D.C. With students back at most colleges and universities this and next week, our hope is that schools will heed our warning on developing procedures that both protect survivors of sexual misconduct and provide vital due process protections. You can read more about our important new campaign here.

We’ve also been busy on the airwaves. CEO president and general counsel Devon Westhill is now a weekly guest on the nationally syndicated Lars Larson radio program. Listen to his most recent discussions on the Biden administration’s anti-due process efforts on Title IX and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s approval of NASDAQ  “diversity requirements” on public company boards. As Devon notes, it’s just another sad example of “the soft bigotry of low expectations.”

CEO chairman Linda Chavez has been busy communicating our positions to a national audience on cable news and recently appeared on CNN to discuss employer mandates for vaccines. This week, Linda traveled to Grand Rapids, Michigan, to deliver a keynote address on American institutions at the Hauenstein Center for Presidential Studies at Grand Valley State University. Linda also recently did a webinar for the International Economic Development Council on entrepreneurship in immigrant communities and continues her regular Beg to Differ podcasts every Friday with Mona Charen, available on iTunes and anywhere where podcasts can be downloaded.

We’ve also continued informing the public by writing op-eds in major media outlets, including Linda’s columns in The Bulwark and other publications and Devon’s important pieces in Townhall.com and elsewhere. Check out his recent op-ed sounding the alarm on President Biden’s disastrous nominee to lead civil rights at the Department of Education and his devastating piece Government Focus on Diversity Taints Achievements of Diverse. As Devon notes, quotas “stain the tremendous achievement of minority candidates.”

CEO is a regular source in major stories on our issues, including this Bloomberg article quoting Devon: Harvard Admissions Case Tests O’Connor’s 25 Year Prediction

Summer may be ending, but the work here continues. None of this would be possible without your support. Thank you as always and stay safe this holiday weekend.
