Romney Should Show He’s a Leader, and Here’s How

Linda ChavezUncategorized

If Mitt Romney is to have any chance of beating President Barack Obama in November, he must win a larger share of the Hispanic vote than current polls suggest he will. And he won’t unless he solves his immigration problem. It’s a problem of his own making. He decided that beating up on illegal immigrants would boost his popularity among those suspicious that he was really a moderate Republican. In doing so, he injected an issue into the campaign that had largely fizzled — and for good reason. Illegal immigration is down to historical lows — primarily because the U.S. …

Feminists Limit Women’s Choices

Not since Hillary Clinton’s infamous remark during the 1992 presidential campaign — “I suppose I could have stayed home and baked cookies and had teas” — has a prominent Democratic woman so insulted full-time homemakers. Speaking on CNN Wednesday, Democratic strategist Hilary Rosen said that Ann Romney has “never worked a day in her life” and, therefore, can’t understand the struggles of most women. Rather than apologize for sticking her thumb in the eyes of millions of American homemakers, Rosen doubled down when critics responded. “This isn’t about whether Ann Romney or I or other women of some means can …

Politically Correct Bean-Counters Everywhere

Roger CleggUncategorized

Despite the overwhelming consensus among Americans that it is wrong to discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, and sex, we see it all the time—in the name of political correctness. And we see it in the government at all levels and in the private sector. Here are just a few examples from recent news stories. Not Black and White

It may be months before we know what actually happened the night Trayvon Martin was shot in Sanford, Fla. on February 26. But many seem to have already decided that this was a brutal case of racial profiling and vigilante justice, emblematic of lingering racism in America. Martin’s parents, who understandably want justice for their son, have been joined by a plethora of activists, politicians, commentators and celebrities in demanding that the shooter, George Zimmerman, be arrested and tried for murder. The Justice Department has gotten in on the act as well, investigating whether the shooting constituted a hate crime …

Trayvon Martin and a different view of 2012 race relations

Roger CleggUncategorized

The facts we know about the death of Trayvon Martin seem to change every day, but we do know one thing for sure: It would be a mistake to draw sweeping conclusions about race relations in this country based on one event in one suburb on one night. True Terrorist Threat

Linda ChavezUncategorized

Much of the attention in the Middle East over the past few months has been focused on the suffering of the people of Syria. But the Assad regime in Syria, which is slaughtering its own people by the thousands, does so with help from its only ally, Iran. And it is not only in Syria that Iran wreaks havoc; Iran is the chief state sponsor of terrorism throughout the world. Who Is a Citizen?

Linda ChavezUncategorized

Is Mitt Romney in favor of increasing the number of illegal immigrants in the United States? You might not think so, given his tough anti-illegal immigration rhetoric, but his leading immigration adviser wants to do just that. What’s more, the proposal this adviser is pushing would impose a new tax — from $1,200 to $1,600 — on every American family for the birth of each child. These are the conclusions of a new study put out by the conservative think tank the National Foundation for American Policy. The whole study calls into question the motives behind the radical anti-immigration groups …

Wisconsin Press Release

CEO StaffUncategorized

On Monday, October 17, CEO president Roger Clegg testified before the Wisconsin state assembly’s higher education committee on racial and ethnic admissions discrimination at the University of Wisconsin. Mr. Clegg had been invited to testify because of two studies on such discrimination that had been released last month by the Center for Equal Opportunity. The studies found that African Americans and Latinos were given heavy preferences over white and Asian undergraduate and law-school applicants.
