Dear CEO Supporters,
Winning the battle for equal opportunity and colorblind principles requires more than victories in courtrooms and policy journals; it requires shaping the public narrative through clear, persuasive, and compelling communication.
We were thrilled to have John Fund, National Affairs Reporter for National Review Online and former Wall Street Journal Editorial Board member, lead a specialized CEO Civil Rights Fellowship session on persuasive writing, media strategy, and public engagement.
Instruction from a Veteran of American Journalism
At the Center for Equal Opportunity, media training is an integral component of our curriculum. We believe there are few people better equipped to mentor our fellows in effective public persuasion than John Fund.
Fund is widely recognized as one of conservative journalism’s preeminent voices. Over a career spanning four decades, his key achievements and leadership roles include
- National Affairs Reporter for National Review Online and Senior Editor at The American Spectator.
- Over Two Decades at The Wall Street Journal, where he served on the Editorial Board and authored the widely read “On the Trail” column.
- Co-author of Notable Books on Governance & Election Integrity, including the national bestseller Who’s Counting?: How Fraudsters and Bureaucrats Put Your Vote at Risk and Stealing Elections: How Voter Fraud Threatens Our Democracy.
During the interactive seminar, Fund provided our fellows with guidance on drafting op-eds, communicating to broader audiences, and engaging effectively across television, digital media, and print platforms.
Equipping the Next Generation of Legal Leaders
This session reflects our commitment to training well-rounded leaders through the CEO Civil Rights Fellowship. By pairing rigorous constitutional instruction with real-world media strategy, we ensure our 2026 CEO Fellows are fully prepared to champion merit and equality across the public square.
Fund’s seminar builds on an exceptional series of fellowship seminars hosted this season:
- Former DOJ Civil Rights Chief Eric Dreiband Leads CEO Fellowship Session on Disparate Impact and Title VII
- Judge Douglas Ginsburg Leads Session of CEO’s 5th Annual Civil Rights Fellowship
- Former U.S. Commission on Civil Rights Commissioner Gail Heriot and Professor of Law Maimon Schwarzchild Ground CEO Fellows in the Constitution
- BakerHostetler Partner Kate McKnight Leads Session at CEO Civil Rights Fellowship
- Society for the Rule of Law Director Gregg Nunziata and Former IJ Litigation Director Darpana Sheth on How Nonprofits Shape the National Legal Landscape
- AIP Director Rick Kahlenberg Leads CEO Session on Post-SFFA Educational Policy
Together, these seminars reflect the core purpose of our fellowship curriculum: giving our fellows direct access to the nation’s leading minds across every arena where civil rights policy is forged. Whether preparing for judicial clerkships, public interest litigation, executive agency oversight, or national media commentary, CEO is preparing this next generation to lead with confidence and conviction wherever their careers take them.
Thank you for your continued partnership and investment in these rising leaders.
Rudy Gersten
Executive Director
