Dear CEO Supporters,
As part of CEO’s 5th Annual Civil Rights Fellowship, our fellows gathered for an in-depth session on election law and redistricting. This session followed sessions on constitutional foundations led by Gail Heriot and Maimon Schwarzschild and our subsequent session on the foundational principles that shape American liberty led by Judge Douglas Ginsburg.
This year’s program brings together a record-breaking class of fellows for our 5th annual fellowship in Washington, D.C.
The presentation and discussion were led by Kate McKnight, Partner at BakerHostetler and one of the nation’s leading litigators in election law and redistricting, who presented on “Voting Rights in Transition: Section 2 and Redistricting Post-Callais.”
Bringing prominent litigators directly to our fellows is a cornerstone of the CEO Civil Rights Fellowship. From hosting leading attorneys, academics and public officials, CEO remains committed to placing our aspiring lawyers and rising leaders in direct dialogue with top legal experts. These sessions offer young legal minds rare, candid insights into complex statutory interpretation and high-stakes litigation.
Ms. McKnight’s presentation addressed key developments surrounding Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act and the legal framework governing redistricting post-Callais. Following her remarks, our fellows engaged in an interactive discussion and Q&A on the current state of voting rights law.
